Surprise

Woke up to this sight Sunday morning. She thinks she's big stuff and I love how excited she gets when she does something new.

boot doops

I've been having fun with these two lately, or more so, they've been having fun, and I've been enjoying it. Kempton continues to make us laugh, and some days I can't help but crack up at the silly things he says, how he tries to be demanding and firm when he wants something, and mostly just seeing his naked but running around. For the longest time now, K doesn't generally eat too much after 3 pm. So some days he goes to bed without dinner because he either isn't hungry, or just doesn't care to stop moving long enough to eat. However, when breakfast rolls around, the kid can out eat most adults. He is also quite fond of a few choice options too which leads to most of our morning conversations going like this...
Me: Kempton, what do you want for breakfast?
K: Affles (absolute favorite)
Me: You don't want oatmeal (his other favorite)
K: No o-meal, o-meal all gone, want affles!!
Me: Ok, you want affles?
K: YEAH!
The other day he informed me with some real intensity, that he wanted to eat his waffles in his room. Knowing how the conversation would go, I kept antagonizing him telling him he had to eat at the table. It got really funny as his voice got lower (and growly) and louder as he demanded he was eating his affles in Kinton's room! Curt and I were dying, he sure is intense when he wants something, but not in that want to smack the kid he's whining and throwing a fit kind of way, Kempton is very dramatic and puts on a good show!
Since this is the only journal I really keep, I wanted to remember some of the silly things this kid says and does.
In reference to breakfast, this is how he likes to pronounce things, keep in mind he substitutes Bs for Fs:
-Waffles: abbles (not to be confused with apples, cause that's what it sounds like)
-Oatmeal: O-meal
-Fruit Loops: Boot Doops
-Regular milk: is (wh)"ite" milk so as to distinguish it from the choc-let milk
-He is more polite and says please, thank you, and "wal"come more then most adults do. He has even started saying no thank you which seriously bout knocked me over, since that wasn't something we would encourage him to say at the time.  He's so stinkin sweet, one day some lady is going to be very lucky to have my polite, funny, enjoys getting dirty then clean, hardworking little man.
-Kempton has gotten to the annoying stage of question after question and no answer will satisfy him. My personal hell favorite is "Daddy coming?" Curt is gone off and on throughout the day leaving me with this question being asked over and over and over and over, I think you get the idea. If I tell him yes, he'll stand in the window till he sees him drive up so I feel bad lying. If I say no, not yet, or later, he responds with "yes daddy coming" and then proceeds to ask again. Same goes for grandma.
-He's very aware of people's cars, whether it's a car or big truck and it's color. So when K is referring to my mom he asks: Eya (grandma apparently) coming in big truck, yeah, Eya big truck ite. Momma's big car, daddy's blue motorcycle (he says it pretty good for his age, but then again he's been trying to say it for 2 years).
-Current favorite movie is Princess and the Frog. Music is so flippin catchy that I literally have no other songs or thoughts running through my head. And to make sure I'm reciting the right lyrics, I will make sure I am in the room for that little diddy. Which only leads to Kempton telling me Momma stop it, no sing, be quiet, go way, git out Kinton room. He apparently has high tastes in singing and I'm just not up to par. Oh, and now that he knows how to turn the movie on himself, he likes to let me know, in a very high pitched, teasing/taunting tone "I watch the Bog (frog)".
-He has become (what he thinks is) quite helpful with Brooke. He selfishly stubbornly possessively lovingly shows Brooke how all her toys work, leaving her with nothing to play with. If he thinks she is getting into something or somewhere he deems inappropriate, he drags her by her hands back to the living room. She however, finds the dragging part fun and pulls herself up onto her knees and knee boards back to the rug, laughing all the way! Smart kid.
-Some nights/early mornings Kempton likes to climb in bed with me and go back to sleep. I don't mind, he likes to snuggle. But, most mornings I wake up to him staring in my face asking me where the "mote" is so he can watch Mickey Mouse in my bed.
-Almost everyday at naptime, K wants to have some kind of slumber party with Brooke in her crib. She wants to play, and he pretends to be a sleeping baby. It ends soon thereafter.
-Still not potty trained. Oh he gets it, he just "forgets" when he is wearing any kind of underwear or shorts. So basically he's using the toilet 100% when naked and 0-3% when dressed. Sorry sweet neighbors on our street, but I do let me kid run around with his goods hanging out, in the front yard, sue me!

Nothing new with miss Brookie, oh unless you count that she is obsessed with the dish washer tray and will rush it whenever the door is down.

She has also started pulling herself up onto her knees, and since yesterday to her feet to play. So she stands now when she has something to brace herself with. Oh but heaven forbid she falls over, hard, soft or even just back to a sitting position, she acts as though she has broken her arm or gouged her eye. I think we have a drama queen on our hands, and folks it ain't pretty, she lays it on thick, and sadly we just laugh.
We think (hope) she is teething because she's been a bit of a stinker when it come to sleeping, and I hope pray that's all it is. Her naps are shorter, there's some more crying involved, and most nights I have to rock her now for a few minutes to get her relaxed. But she still sleeps through the night so at least there's that.
She laughs now, a lot. She finds Kempton hysterical mostly when he's just running around or jumping over her in the crib. She loves when her daddy is goofy and when he tosses her around. She's ticklish on her chubby thighs and laughs when your nuzzle her neck. It's such a funny laugh too, a combination of squeaking and gasping.
Girlfriend has moved her long, chunky self up into size 9-12 months. We're blowing through clothes I sized according to the snail's pace in which Kempton grew. Oh well at least it's warm enough here in the spring for shorts and tanks!

{Easter} Weekend

Easter weekend was a busy one for our family and we spent most of it driving around. Friday the kids and I went up to Payson to visit my grandma since Curt had to work through the weekend. Every year the Saturday before Easter they have a town-wide egg hunt so my mom and I took Kempton.
Once it started, and it's broken into age groups, K rushed out to get the eggs nearest to him, then got a little confused about what to do next until he saw all the other kids going from egg to egg. My kid on the other hand, figured out a great system, he left his basket in a central location and ran around grabbing handfuls of eggs at a time and running back. It was hilarious seeing how far he would go, and then the amount of eggs he was able to carry back to his basket. It definitely worked for him, his basket was full at the end of it!

My grandma also got a new kitten for Easter, which Kempton loved holding and playing with since the other cats never show their face when he's around.
Sunday afternoon we went to my aunt's for dinner and some more Easter activities. There was another egg hunt, and once again, he had a full basket. Too bad he tried (and almost succeeded) to eat everything in those eggs. Good for us the majority of it was money, he walked away with $3 in coins.
This little missy got a few eggs of her own to chew on.
I've realized that it is impossible to get a picture of these two together and looking at the camera. So I got one of them sitting in the grass, K digging through his stash, and B wondering what the heck she's sitting on.
These two really are so cute together. Kempton is so sweet to his sister and she just adores him. It was like pulling teeth to get a picture of K without a grimace though, but at least he didn't try to throw her off the bench.
This little doll is now 7 months old and it seems just over the weekend she started sitting up on her own and is now army crawling all over the house. She's so funny too, she pulls with one arm while the other one is tucked under, and pushes with one leg while the other one is nicely held in the air. She's quick too, and loves the door stopper and chasing the rubber ball.

She's still eating great and has made it through the fruits. I'm trying to encourage her to use a sippy cup with a little juice water in it, but she just thinks it's a chew toy.

It was a good Easter weekend and the beautiful spring weather couldn't be nicer. Oh and the desert is in full bloom from all the rain we received earlier. There are flowers out there that I have never seen in the desert, so if you're bored, and live in Az, take a drive up towards Saguaro lake, you won't be disappointed.
